INTRODUCTION

Silat is widely known through much of South East Asia, the term pencak silat is used mainly in Indonesia. Pencak silat was chosen as a unifying term for the Indonesian fighting styles. It was a compound of the two most commonly used words for martial arts in Indonesia. Pencak was the term used in central and east Java, while silat was used in Sumatra and Borneo. In Minang usage, pencak and silat are seen as being two aspects of the same practice. Pencak is the essence of training, the outward aspect of the art which a casual observer is permitted to witness as performance. Silat is the essence of combat and self-defense, the true fighting application of the techniques.
Silat can improve in self-defenses and it can be learned to use in competing a game which is it involve exciting, fun, and motivating for athlete. It creates involvement of the athletes in the class, larger excitement to improve and study new advanced skills, and motivating the athletes or the student in perform better in class.
There is a lot of motion analysis of silat including punch, kick, block, sweep, topple, and dodge. Previous study has been studied about the activity profile during action time. According to Mohamed Shapie, Oliver, O’Donoghue, and Tong (2013) the nature of work periods within any combat sports depends on the frequency, volume and type of the activity being performed. The objective of this study is to describe the skills involved between the winner and loser as well as to determine the factor that influences the winner to win.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

A video recording of quarterfinal, semifinal, and final match Class E Men Malaysia during Sea Games in Singapore 2015 was used for the analysis also final match Class H men Malaysia. There are three rounds within one match and each round has two minute for fighting and one minute for resting. The skills were coded into five categories which is punch, kick, sweep, topple and block. In order to get accurate measurement of the skills, the video was repeated so that the data can be taken properly. The frequency was taken as data to be analyses.

MOTION CATEGORIES

Punch: The punch ‘tumbuk’ attack is done by a hand with a closed fist hitting the target
Kick: The kick ‘tendang / terajang’ is an attacking movement which is performed with one leg or two legs simultaneously a kick can be aimed at any target
Block: The blocking movements using arms, elbows and legs with the purpose to block off or striking back at any attack
Catch: The catch ‘tangkapan’ is done by using the hand to obstruct the opponent from carrying out an attack.

DISCUSSION

Table has shown the total actions done by the athlete according to the coding. Based on the table, the winner (MAS) Class E is not using punching technique at all but using kicking technique to fight the opponent also the use sweep and Tople. Meanwhile, the loser is often using punching technique. The percentage of punching technique by the winner is 0.0% compared to the loser team. The percentage of kicking technique by the winner is high compared to the loser. Even though the loser has higher percentage of kicking technique than the winner, but according to the frequency table, the loser has higher percentage in winning but because of he cannot complete the kicking to fight the opponent as the opponent used blocking technique to protect himself. Based on the analysis, the winner used a good strategy to fight the opponent by seeing the weaknesses of the opponent and the loser has no opportunity to fight back if the winner uses kicking technique with sweep. Based on the video, kick with sweep technique is the best motion to topple down the loser. All in all, this shows the factors that influence the winner to win the match. But in the other hand video of class H (MAS) he have low of percentage in winning the fight between Indonesia was tight if he can perform better MAS could win in the class H division in the future the athlete of class H need to learn how to block, catch, sweep, punch, kick sharply so the opponent don’t have the chance to interfere the game.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, class E men Al Jufferi Jamari (MAS) performed a very good performance he can completed his technique perfectly in the use of kick, sweep, and topple. At Singapore Sea games 2015 However, in class H Muhammad Robial Sobri the fighter is smarter but in performance he can’t complete the task because of the confidence in the skill, MAS lose to IND. The Indonesia is very good in terms of application of skills during fighting. The loser cannot win this match because he often loses the opportunity to kick, punch, sweep or topple because he cannot apply the technique when he try attacking the opponent. In addition, based on the video, the winner used block, kick, sweep technique to fight back as well as topple down the loser.

RECOMMENDATION

In my opinion the coach should recognize the ability and capability of the National silat player and accepted, they trained so in the future they are more athletes just like Al Jufferi Jamari although some the athlete cannot perform doesn’t mean they should give up because they need to rise up and fight for the country. However, it is important also to the coach before making any decision in selecting athlete whether the athlete should played in their own category. In advanced athletes should practice more on their target and technique in improve their performance especially on catch, dodge, punch, kick, sweep, and topple. As we know some of the athletes is lack in using the block and punch they always go for the sweep or topple, we must train longer to improve the technique and the most important thing is the strength of the athlete so they cannot easily sweep or topple. Furthermore, video analysis can be a guidance to identify the athlete’s mistake also the strengths of the athlete so in the future can improved more.
